Report: Tyler Macon among Missouri football players who plan to enter transfer portal
The number of Missouri football players planning to enter the transfer portal has jumped to four.
Following the lead of wide receiver Dominic Lovett, more Tigers plan on entering the transfer portal, which opens Dec. 5. The group includes cornerback DJ Jackson, who announced his intentions on social media, defensive lineman Travion Ford, who a source indicated to the Tribune plans to leave, and Tyler Macon, according to a report from Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Macon was part of a four-way competition for the starting job during camp, along with Brady Cook, Jack Abraham and Sam Horn. However, he only played sparingly throughout 2022, largely as a decoy in fourth-down situations where MU was trying to draw an opponent offsides.
Macon played in three games last season as a true freshman, preserving his redshirt. He earned one start, against the eventual national champion Georgia Bulldogs at Faurot Field.
In that game, he completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 74 yards. He also rushed for 42 yards on 11 carries in the defeat.
Macon also played against Southeast Missouri State and Vanderbilt. He finished the season with 143 yards passing and a touchdown.
He also rushed for a touchdown against Vanderbilt.
Macon played his high school football at East St. Louis. He threw for 4,241 yards as a junior, which ended up being the final season of his prep career due to the 2020 campaign being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was ranked as a three-star recruit coming out of high school and was rated as the country’s 13th-best dual-threat quarterback by 247Sports and Rivals. He chose Missouri over a plethora of other offers, including Illinois, Iowa and Michigan State.
Ford was also a four-star prospect coming out of Lutheran North as a member of the 2021 recruiting class. He appeared in one game in 2021 as a true freshman but suffered a season-ending injury.
Ford did not play at all in 2022. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Jackson joined the Tigers as a three-star prospect from Red Oak in Texas. He started three games as a freshman last season, and played in 11.
This season, Jackson played in three games, but did not see the field after that. He will likely have three remaining years of eligibility.
Players who enter the portal can rejoin their current team if both sides so choose. It will be open for 45 days.
Missouri beat Arkansas Friday in its last game of the regular season. It will play in a bowl game to conclude its 2022 campaign.
