The Vikings have a solidified starter at quarterback in Kirk Cousins. But with Sean Mannion still a free agent, Minnesota could use a quarterback behind Cousins on the depth chart.

Jake Browning and Nate Stanley, both of whom were on the practice squad in 2020, could be options for the backup spot in 2021. The Vikings could also go and get a rookie from this year’s draft class.

As Yahoo Sports’ Eric Edholm reported, Minnesota has met virtually with Northwestern QB Peyton Ramsey. Ramsey had 15 total touchdowns and eight interceptions in his grad transfer season with the Wildcats in 2020.

Ramsey would likely only command a late-round pick, so it wouldn’t cost too much for the Vikings to land him.

Ramsey was inconsistent in his time with Indiana, but with Northwestern, he found his stride. He also proved his mobility at the collegiate level. It could be interesting to see if he improves aspects of his game in the NFL.
