Wardlow has been absent from AEW programming in recent weeks, and a new report shines some light on the situation.

In the newest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Wardlow has been dealing with an injury, but he’s not expected to be out for a long time. The report didn’t specify what kind of injury the former TNT Champion has been dealing with or how it happened.

“Mr. Mayhem” hasn’t wrestled since the December 28 episode of AEW Dynamite. There, he unsuccessfully challenged Samoa Joe for the TNT Championship. He previously lost the title to Joe in a three-way match that also included Powerhouse Hobbs at AEW Full Gear in November.

Joe lost the title to Darby Allin on the January 4 episode of AEW Dynamite. He will aim to regain the gold when he challenges Allin on the February 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
