The offseason wheels appear to be in full motion for Xavier men's basketball and new head coach Sean Miller.

Last week it was reported that Miller will retain current assistant Dante Jackson on his coaching staff, and now a second position on his staff has been filled.

Stanford associate head coach Adam Cohen will assume that same role under Miller at Xavier, Stadium's Jeff Goodman reported Monday evening.

Cohen just wrapped up his sixth season as an assistant at Stanford. Prior to that, Cohen was at Vanderbilt (2014-16), Harvard (2013-14) and Rice (2012-13).

Cohen was also a student manager at Arizona and the director of basketball operations at Southern Cal before landing his first assistant job.

This is a key addition for a number of reasons. First, Cohen could have to serve as Xavier's interim head coach for a number of games next season if Miller gets handed a suspension when the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP) finalizes its investigation into alleged NCAA infractions from Miller's time at Arizona.

Second, Cohen's a proven recruiter who's capable of landing and discovering high-level talent all across the country.

"He has a really diverse recruiting base in terms of the guys that he's brought in," Musketeer Report publisher Rick Broering, who covers college basketball recruiting year-round, told The Enquirer. "If you look just over the last handful of years, he's brought in guys from Nebraska, Kansas, Nevada, California, Texas, New Jersey, Connecticut ... he's brought guys from basically all over the U.S."

Just over the last three years, Broering said, Cohen recruited Tyrell Terry, who was a top-80 recruit nationally and left Stanford after one season as the first pick in the second round of the NBA Draft. Cohen also recruited Ziaire Williams, a five-star prospect, who left Stanford after one season as the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, as well as five-star Harrison Ingram, who's a projected late first-round pick in the upcoming NBA Draft later this summer.

Like Jackson, Cohen will work primarily with Xavier's guards. That means the final assistant spot on Miller's staff will be a big-man coach.
