Reports: Chinese Dissident Leaves U.S. Embassy For Medical Treatment

Blind Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng, who fled house arrest last month and sought refuge at the U.S. Embassy, left the diplomatic compound for treatment at a medical facility in Beijing, according to The Washington Post.

Guangcheng was accompanied by U.S. Ambassador Gary Locke, who called The Post to say he was with Chen in a car on the way to the hospital.

It was the first acknowledgment that Chen had been sheltered under U.S. protection.
