Reports: Tornado confirmed in Pennsylvania as damaging storms strike mid-Atlantic
The first week of October is bringing severe weather to the mid-Atlantic as strong thunderstorms threaten lives and property across the region.
One of the first severe storms of the day developed over northwestern Pennsylvania and spun up a tornado, causing damage to a nursing home, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Thunderstorms will continue to bring the risk of damaging winds, flooding downpours and isolated tornadoes into Tuesday night from central Ohio through eastern Pennsylvania.

3:38 p.m. EDT Tuesday:
An extremely dangerous tornado is located near Meadville, Pennsylvania, and is tracking east. This is a particularly dangerous situation. People in the track of this storm need to seek shelter immediately.

3:35 p.m. EDT Tuesday:
Severe thunderstorms will become more widespread into Tuesday evening and may impact travel during the evening commute. This includes all of Interstate 80 across Pennsylvania.
2:46 p.m. EDT Tuesday:
A tornado has been confirmed by emergency managers near Conneautville, Pennsylvania, and is tracking east. This storm has damaged a nursing home near Conneautville is located just south of Erie.
Tornado reported by trained spotter 5 miles east of Conneautville in Crawford County Pennsylvania. Tornado struck a nursing home.

Another thunderstorm to the west is over Ashtabula, Ohio, and is also capable of spinning up a tornado.
These two storms will also bring heavy downpours and frequent lightning.
