Republic Services: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

PHOENIX (AP) _ Republic Services Inc. (RSG) on Monday reported fourth-quarter profit of $235.5 million.

The Phoenix-based company said it had profit of 74 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 80 cents per share.

The waste management company posted revenue of $2.57 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.55 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $967.2 million, or $3.02 per share. Revenue was reported as $10.15 billion.

Republic Services expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.65 to $3.73 per share.

Republic Services shares have declined nearly 8% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed 3%. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $89, a decrease of 10% in the last 12 months.
