Republican Barb Kniff McCulla elected to House District 37

Nov. 9—PELLA — Republican candidate Barb Kniff McCulla has been elected to serve Iowa House District 37, according to unofficial results reported by the Iowa Secretary of State.

Voters in House District 37 favored McCulla with 74.62% of the vote for a total of 10,590 votes. Her opponent, Democratic candidate Mike Overman, received 25.3% of the vote for a total of 3,590 votes, according to the secretary of state.

The new House District 37 includes portions of Mahaska, Marion and Jasper Counties.

McCulla earned 86.3% of the vote in Mahaska County and 73.96% in Marion County, with Overman receiving 13.63% of the vote in Mahaska County and 25.94% of the vote in Marion County, according to reports from each county auditor's office.
