Republican Jeff Stanek greets HD-90 voters
Feb. 7—Candidate for Montana House of Representatives District 90, St. Regis resident Jeff Stanek met with voters and community members Feb. 3.
Attendees gathered to talk with Stanek, ask questions, and share in fellowship and homemade spaghetti dinner at the St. Regis Community Center. Stanek's wife, Cassie, prepared the meal that was served with the help of friends and neighbors.
Stanek will face two other Republicans in the primary election, Curtis Cochran of St. Regis and Steven Delisle of Alberton. This district includes part of Mineral, Sanders and Missoula counties, and spans from Plains in the north, east to Alberton and Frenchtown, west to Superior, St. Regis and Haugan, and south to Lolo.
Stanek took the stage briefly before the meal to introduce himself and cover the bases of his grassroots campaign. Pointing down at his feet, Stanek announced, "This right here is why I am running, for my own posterity."
His young son and another little boy sat on the edge of the stage. He hopes that future generations can grow up in Montana and still be successful here and to do so Stanek wants to address certain issues.
Problems like inflated property taxes, energy solutions and responsible usage of the state's natural resources, fraud, and financial greed in local and state governments, and the threat of ever-expanding oversight and regulations.
Stanek believes strongly that mainstream politics must go. And one way he is fighting against that undercurrent is the fact that he keeps his campaign free of social media.
He remarked, "I have boycotted joining Facebook for over 10 years and I don't plan on doing anything differently now."
He intends to meet constituents face to face, the old-fashioned way, to deliver his positions and discuss possible solutions. His supporters are welcome to advocate for his campaign and share his mission via social media, but Stanek won't put it out there himself.
His staying points include smaller government, lower taxes, personal freedoms, constitutional protection, transparency, and a voice of reason.
Stanek teaches government and history at St. Regis High School and was a cop in the United States Air Force, he was deployed to Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom from 2009-2010. He and his wife have two sons and the family loves to hunt, fish, hike, and enjoy Montana's outdoors.
