Republican Moffitt files for reelection for N.C. Senate's District 48

According to a news release, Republican Tim Moffitt filed Dec. 4 with the Henderson County Board of Elections as a candidate for reelection to the North Carolina Senate’s District 48.

Moffitt is currently in his first term in the Senate. He has also served for 3 1/2 terms in thestate house, most recently in the 117th district representing Henderson County. Senate District 48 comprises all of Henderson, Polk, and Rutherford counties.

In his time at the General Assembly, Moffitt has authored nearly 300 pieces of legislation. According to the release, Moffitt has received numerous accolades from the business community over the years for his low-tax and pro-growth policies, including removing more than 6,000 costly and burdensome regulations from the books.

He has been consistently endorsed by the National Rifle Association, North Carolina Right to Life, the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business and theBuilders and Contractors of the Carolinas, the release said.

According to the release, Moffitt helped in securing $30 million for a new state-of-the-art health and sciences building at Isothermal Community College, nearly $100 million in funds to expand the engineering program at Western Carolina University and an additional $116 million for infrastructure and other projects in Henderson, Polk, and Rutherford counties.

Moffitt, 59, won his first term to the Senate in 2022 by nearly 30 percentage points. He runs an executive search and management consulting firm and is married to his wife, Dina. They have five grown children.
