Required boil water notice issued for parts of Bartow

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A required precautionary boil water notice has been issued for customers located on Thornhill Road and the surrounding area in Bartow.

Polk County Utilities said this notice is due to a water main break and affects nearly 440 customers due to the low pressure.

Residents are advised to drink bottled water or only use tap water that is boiled for at least a minute for cooking and drinking.

The boil water notice will be in effect until another water sample analysis is completed and will be rescinded once levels show satisfactory results.

The Board of County Commissioners said the water lines in the area have been flushed as another precaution.
