Rescue Efforts Continue Following Glacier Break in Northern India

Efforts continued to rescue an estimated 34 people trapped in a tunnel in Tapovan, India, on February 8, after a glacier burst causing flooding, the Times of India reported.

At least 10 people were killed and as many as 140 remained missing by Monday morning, after a section of the Nanda Devi glacier broke off and damaged a hydropower dam in Tapovan-Reni. Crews from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) worked to clear debris and rescue people alongside state emergency crews, the Times of India said.
