Happy Thursday, Beaverton! I'm so happy to find you back here again, reading the Daily. Here's what's going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

A touch of morning rain. High: 53 Low: 40.

Here are the top five stories in Beaverton today:

  1. A new elementary school club is gaining attention from the community. Raleigh Hills Elementary fourth and fifth grade students were recently invited to join the Gender and Sexualities Alliance Club. Get the details at KOIN.com.

  2. Washington County is seeking community input for the Thompson Road realignment. The Cedar Mill News recently shared the history of the non-intuitive configuration of the roadway where it crosses at Saltzman. Now, the county has come forward with ideas that some area cyclists say are a bit inadequate. See for yourself via BikePortland.org.

  3. Despite the recent surge in positive COVID cases, hospitals continue to be under capacity in the area. Tuality Community Hospital in downtown Hillsboro is the closest to capacity in the Beaverton-area, with about 93 percent of inpatient beds occupied and almost 99 percent of ICU beds occupied. The hospital reports that around 14 percent of all beds are occupied by confirmed or suspected COVID cases. See the data for yourself at the Beaverton Patch.

  4. There's a new vaccination site in the area. Langer's Entertainment Center in Sherwood is hosting a drive-through clinic featuring all vaccines and boosters, including pediatric shots. (Twitter)

  5. It's done! Executive Director Chris Ayzoukian shared that construction work on the Patricia Reser Center is complete. Ayzoukian announced the facility's grand opening series, Reser Presents, which commences in March. Check out the lineup and get your tickets. (Instagram)
