Reservation required for Yosemite during these dates

YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – It is important for those who might want to take a trip to Yosemite, mostly those who want to watch the Horsetail Fall Event in February, to know about the park’s reservation times and when visitors might or might not require a reservation.

According to officials, an entrance reservation will be required to drive into Yosemite during two different periods in Summer 2024; however, they warn that details about the two systems are different.

  • Jan. 1 through Feb. 9: No reservation is required to drive in Yosemite.

  • Feb. 10 through Feb. 25: A reservation is required 24 hours per day on Saturdays, Sundays, and on Washington’s Birthday (Monday, Feb. 19).

  • Feb. 26 through April 12: No reservation is required to drive into Yosemite.

  • April 13 through June 30: A reservation is required from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (May 27 and June 19).

  • July 1 through Aug. 16: A reservation is required from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

  • Aug. 17 through Oct. 27: A reservation is required from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (Sept. 2 and Oct. 14).

The reservation required for 24 hours during some weekends in February is due to the Horsetail Fall event, or Yosemite’s Firefall.
