Residents flee after multifamily home catches fire in Paso Robles

A multifamily residence on Myrtlewood Drive in Paso Robles broke out in flames on Sunday night.

All household occupants were able to evacuate safely, according to a news release from Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services.

The flames licked the outside of the structure and spread into the attic space when firefighters arrived at the scene at about 10:45 p.m. on July 3, the release said.

A second alarm was requested because the fire had potential to grow, but it was canceled after the fire was contained in 10 minutes with little damage, according to the release.

The residents were able to return to their homes after the fire was extinguished, the release said.

The fire drew resources from multiple agencies.

The Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services Department dispatched two fire engines, one ladder truck and two Battalion Chiefs, the release said.

The automatic aid agreement between Paso Robles Fire and neighboring agencies drew two fire engines and one Battalion Chief from San Luis Obispo County Fire and one ladder truck from the City of Atascadero Fire Department.

The second alarm lead to the dispatch of three additional engines, a Battalion Chief and breathing support unit, according to the release.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
