Residents can get live updates on Nicole from Palm Beach Fire Rescue’s new weather station

Just in time for the arrival of Tropical Storm Nicole, Palm Beach has launched its new WeatherSTEM weather station at Central Fire Station No. 1 on South County Road.

The Palm Beach WeatherSTEM provides real-time reports from the town’s center with by-the-second updates on conditions and a live weather camera, the town announced Tuesday.

To access the new site, go to palmbeach.weatherstem.com/fswnpalmbeach. Residents also can download the WeatherSTEM app for Apple and Android devices.

The system was installed using a grant from the Florida Division of Emergency Management and its Florida Severe Weather Network. The unit is rated to withstand wind gusts of up to 185 mph, and it is solar-powered and cellular to remain fully operational if electricity and internet connections are interrupted.
