Residents who live near an Orange County middle school said they are fed up with what has become an ongoing problem in their neighborhood.

Neighbors said for years now, when students at Lockhart Middle School get dismissed from class, large groups make their way into the neighborhood. Fights break out, property gets damaged and trash is left everywhere.

Residents said a lot of the issues seem to stem from a catwalk that connects the neighborhood to the middle school.

A school board member told Channel 9 that some things they have tried include messaging parents and staggering dismissal, but nothing has worked. And because this is happening off campus, the district said there isn’t anything else they can do.
