Residents react to President Biden’s visit to his hometown

SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — President Biden is scheduled to visit Scranton for what his reelection campaign calls a “major address.”

28/22 News spoke to some locals from the president’s hometown Friday afternoon.

On Tuesday the 16th President Biden will take a trip back to his hometown in Scranton, and 28/22 News spent time speaking with residents of the area to gather some opinions on his upcoming visit.

President Biden is expected to pay a visit next week to his hometown of Scranton some residents in the area are thrilled to get a chance to see him

“I am very excited you know we are privileged to have our president coming from Scranton, and it’s always good to go back home and see your people,” said Hannah Mensah from Scranton.

“I’m excited to see him, I think he’s doing his best for the economy, you know no one is perfect and it’s a tough job,” says Ramon Paniagua from Scranton.

President Biden to deliver ‘major address’ in Scranton

On the other hand, some people are not that thrilled.

“I am not excited about that, you know we should we should probably get somebody that’s more encouraging about what’s happening down here not just being just for show,” stated Joann Morales from Dunmore.

“Not at all I don’t care for him,” added John Nichols from Hawley.

“Well, I’m not one of the people that excited about it but people here in Scranton are excited about it,” said Matthew Porrini from Montrose.

For others, there’s a sense of appreciation for the president coming back to his hometown

“I guess I don’t really care one way or another it’s nice he comes back to the place he’s from I guess yeah that’s nice,” continued Thomas Aniska from Archbald.

So mixed opinions here in the Electric City.
