Seafood restaurant, apparel chain coming to Cherry Hill Mall

CHERRY HILL - A seafood restaurant and a women's apparel chain from Germany are coming to Cherry Hill Mall, the shopping center's owner has announced.

Eddie V's, one of several chains operated by Darden Restaurants Inc., is expected to open at the mall this fall, according to Philadelphia-based PREIT.

The apparel chain, Marc Cain, is set to arrive in March.

The newcomers are among 20 tenants who have leased more than 50,000 square feet at the mall, which PREIT described as a "trophy asset."

PREIT also operates Moorestown Mall and Cumberland Mall in Vineland. It did not disclose sales figures for those sites, but has previously said they are among the bottom tier of the firm's 18 shopping centers

Both Eddie V's and Marc Cain currently operate in this area at King of Prussia Mall outside Philadelphia.

The seafood restaurant will occupy the former site of a Grand Lux Cafe, which created an 8,685-square-foot vacancy when it closed last August in the mall's restaurant row off Route 38.

Eddie V's has 27 restaurants in 14 states, with more than half in Texas, California and Florida, according to its website. It has one other New Jersey location, in Paramus.

Its owner, Orlando-based Darden, operates three other restaurant chains at the Cherry Hill center — Bahama Breeze, Seasons 52 and The Capital Grill. Darden's holdings also include the Yard House chain of pubs, with an outlet at PREIT's Moorestown center.

PREIT described Marc Cain as "an elite women's ready-to-wear brand." It said the Cherry Hill site, an 1,800-square-foot store in the mall's center court, "will be one off few U.S. locations" for the German retailer.

Cherry Hill Mall, also described as "a flagship" by PREIT, is a bright spot for the shopping center operator,

PREIT in November reported a net loss of $125.6 million for the first three quarters of 2021. That followed deficits of $286.9 million for 2020, $38.2 million in 2019, and $137.7 million in 2018.
