Restaurant inspections: Here's how Allsups, Rib Crib, Wendy's scored

The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed at its website, http://amarillo.gov/departments/community-services/environmental-health/foodinspections. A numerical grading system is now being used, with a score of 100 points being equivalent to zero demerits.

100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

85 points – Considered an average score

70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

COS – Corrected on site during inspection

These points correspond to the following letter grades:

A – 90 to 100

B – 80 to 89

C – 70 to 79

F – 69 and below

Quaternary ammonium sanitizer test kit needed (repeat violation); single-use container with no handle used to scoop seasonings (repeat violation); mold build-up on F’Real machine; ice build-up on fans in walk-in cooler; air curtain still needed above bathroom to prevent presence of flies (repeat violation); sign needed at hand sink in back room stating for hand washing only (repeat violation). Correct by 06/26.

(A/95) Bears Burgers & Dawgs, 2001 N. 2nd Ave., Space B, Canyon. Heavily dented cans for use on site; fresh tomatoes washed in hand sink. COS.

(B/88) Center City Shakes & Bakes, 320 S. Polk St. No sanitizer solution being used to clean food contact surfaces. Correct by 06/23. No Certified Food Manager; employees need food handler certifications; no sanitizer test strips (repeat violation); no soap and paper towels at hand sink; wiping cloth and dirty knife in hand sink; several surfaces in need of cleaning. (A/97) Pak A Sak #1, 2800 4th Ave., Canyon. Expired cheese in pizza make table. COS. Sugar container must be labeled. Correct by 12/13.

(A/97) Park Place Towers, 1300 S. Harrison St. No paper towels or soap at hand sink in side storage room containing dishes. COS. Floor of walk-in freezer, inside ice machine, fan in prep walk-in and several door handles on various reach-ins need cleaning (repeat violations). Correct by 10/13.

(A/98) Quality Inn East, 1515 E. I-40. No sanitizer test strips. Correct by 06/30.

(A/92) Rib Crib Restaurant, 5050 S. Coulter St. Raw chicken sitting on shelf above vegetables; items stacked wet. COS. Large gap at bottom of back door must be sealed; dirty wiping cloth not stored properly; box of lemons on floor in walk-in cooler (repeat violation); dirt and food debris on multiple areas in kitchen (repeat violation). Correct by 09/18.

(A/96) Sodexo BSA Hospital Dining Center Kitchen, 1600 Wallace Blvd. List of ingredients missing from label on steak bowl; rusted shelf inside reach-in cooler in deli area needs to be repaired or replaced. COS.

(A/98) Sodexo BSA Hospital/Patient Dining Kitchen, 1600 Wallace Blvd. Ice scoop stored in container pooling water. COS. Ceiling tiles in employee restrooms and above mop sink are absorbent and need to be replaced; ceiling above dishwasher peeling and must be repaired to be smooth, durable, easily cleanable and non-absorbent (repeat violation). Correct by 09/13.

(A/98) Sodexo Harrington Cancer Center, 1600 Wallace Blvd. Single-use cups in cardboard box stored directly on floor. COS. Sign needed in employee restroom instructing employees to wash their hands before returning to work (repeat violation). Correct by 09/13.

(A/94) The Station by Eskimo Hut, 7200 W. McCormick Road. Kolaches in red hot holding unit at improper temperature; breakfast sandwiches marked with incorrect time. Correct by 06/23.

(A/98) Toot ‘n Totum #125, 311 23rd St., Canyon. Expired bacon on shelf for sale. COS.

(A/96) Wendy’s #10694, 4206 W. I-40. Quaternary ammonium sanitizer at improper concentration; mechanical dispenser at three-compartment sink not dispensing correctly. COS. Several missing/broken floor tiles around mop sink and in cook line need to be replaced or repaired (repeat violation). Correct by 07/17.
