Restaurant inspections: Scores for Braums, Cliffside Coffee, Lazy Gator, more

The Food Establishment Inspection Report is a weekly report that appears Sundays. Information is taken from reports provided by the Environmental Health Department, and individual reports can be viewed on its website, http://amarillo.gov/departments/community-services/environmental-health/foodinspections. A numerical grading system is now being used, with a score of 100 points being equivalent to zero demerits.

  • 100 points – No major violation at the time of inspection

  • 85 points – Considered an average score

  • 70 points or below – Requires re-inspection within 24 hours

  • COS – Corrected on site during inspection

These points correspond to the following letter grades:

  • A – 90 to 100

  • B – 80 to 89

  • C – 70 to 79

  • F – 69 and below

(A/91) Amarillo Country Club, 4800 Bushland Blvd. Raw eggs stored above fruit; raw seafood stored above cut onions and cooked chicken. COS. Heavy build-up of old food/grease on grill bottom, salamander equipment and popcorn machine; mold growth inside ice machine near dispensing area. Correct by 01/17. All employee items must be stored in a designated area; multiple items without lids or coverings; peeling/rusted racks inside one reach-in cooler; ice build-up on sides of reach-in freezers in bar; mold growing around outside edges and inside tea dispenser spout; old food debris and spills in microwave and inside some reach-in coolers; dust behind equipment and on ceilings. Grand St. Ground beef in grocery cooler at improper temperature; several buckets of chlorine sanitizer too strong; soda nozzles on both drink dispensers dirty; employee did not wash hands before putting on gloves and switching tasks from register to handling food; several chemicals without lids; hand sink blocked and jalapenos clogging hand sink; all employee items must be stored in a designated area; ice scoop stored in heavily soiled container; clean wares on floor; single-use items stored in cardboard box heavily soiled with grease; single-use items on rolling cart touching heavily soiled wares. (B/82) HDM23, LLC dba Cliffside Coffee, 2540 Ross Osage Drive. Whipped cream requiring refrigeration after opening stored on shelf next to drive thru window; ice scoop stored inside ice machine and handle touching ice (repeat violation). COS. Ice machine dirty inside and beginning to grow mold (repeat violation); sanitizer at three compartment sink at improper concentration (repeat violation); no Certified Food Manager on site (repeat violation); sanitizer test strips expired; no hot water at hand sink in employee restroom; hand sink very slow draining. Correct by 01/08. Grease trap located inside building instead of outside in the ground (repeat violation). Correct by 01/22. Mold on drain below three-compartment sink (repeat violation). (A/99) Noah’s Quick Stop LLC, 10620 Riker Lane. Signs needed above hand sinks stating for hand washing only and reminding employees to wash hands before returning to work. Correct by 12/28.

(A/97) Preston West Par 3, 9101 S. Coulter St. Ice scoops stored with liquor bottles. COS. Stickers must be removed when washing dishes; salmon must be opened before thawing; dishes stacked wet. Correct by 03/27.

(A/90) Robinsons BBQ Time Out Sports Bar and Grill, 3723 S.W. 38th Ave., Suite 100. Quaternary sanitizer dispenser not properly dispensing; no paper towels at hand sink in dishwashing area. COS. Chlorine sanitizer concentration too weak for dishwasher at bar. Correct by 12/31/2023. No quaternary or chlorine sanitizer test strips; most recent grease trap invoice must be provided; Certified Food Manager certificate must be posted in view of public; CFM must be on site during all hours of food operation.
