It's the perfect time of the year to be in Florida and every day we welcome a fresh bunch of transplants, snowbirds and tourists to our corner of the Sunshine State.

To help them get acclimated, we compiled a list of Sarasota-isms. Basically, it's an A-to-Z glossary of local sayings, places and people that make us who and what we are.

And what about fun things to do this weekend? We've got you covered with outdoor events in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties including the Englewood Seafood & Music Festival, Manatee County Fair, and PINCfest in Sarasota's Rosemary District.

We also continued our recently relaunched series of guides to best waterfront restaurants for outdoor dining, focusing this week on some of our favorite places on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key.

And don't forget about restaurant news. We had a Venice cafe named one of Top 100 in the country by OpenTable and a new addition to Lakewood Ranch's Main Street. We also reported on the permanent closing of a Red Lobster in Sarasota and noted the recent sale of Webber’s Hot Dogs.

What about restaurant inspections for Sarasota-Manatee? Yeah, we got those, too.

In addition, we have columns on the best upcoming local concerts and arts events as well as one about which movies you should be seeing in area cinemas or streaming at home.

Have a great weekend! And please consider sharing this link with folks who might also be interested in enjoying our weekly newsletter spotlighting the most popular recent dining and entertainment stories from TicketSarasota.com, which is part of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and USA TODAY Network.
