Jul. 19—CELINA — Add another restaurant to Celina's downtown.
The Anchor opened last Thursday in the old Charlie's Bakery, at 109 S. Main St., Celina.
"It's just something to bring people downtown and get things moving again here in Celina," said Mandi Bruce, general manager. "The Anchor is a restaurant first, a bar second. We have trendy appetizers, amazing smash burgers, a specialty signature cocktail menu that is pretty phenomenal."
The size of the building provided some challenges for the new owners.
"It's a perfect location. It's a long skinny building, so we had to really work with how they were going to set it up," Bruce said. "We have a patio out back if people want to wait if there's a waitlist. Also, we'll be serving beers and eventually some small snacks out back. Right now it's just drinks."
Bruce says burgers are their specialty.
"Our burgers ($10-16) as far as a meal goes... and I would say we have probably our Street Corn Chori Queso ($12) and our Brussels and Short Rib Kabobs ($15) for an appetizer," Bruce said. "Those are the two things I think people are really going to fall in love with."
Other appetizers on the menu include pretzel sticks ($10), spin dip ($12), loaded waffle fries ($12), the dip trio ($12) and the shareable caprese ($12).
Other than burgers, The Anchor offers grilled cheese ($10), Reuben sandwiches ($13), BLT sandwiches ($14), chicken bacon ranch wraps ($11) and gourmet macaroni and cheese ($10).
The Anchor is open 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the kitchen Thursday through Saturday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
They also hope to open on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
