New restaurant opens inside former Imperial Place location in Rockford
The building of a former Chinese restaurant in Rockford is no longer vacant.
A new restaurant has opened up inside the former Imperial Palace on East State Street in Rockford.

What does the restaurant serve?
The menu offers a variety of Asian, Chinese and Vietnamese food, including crab Rangoon, egg rolls, pho noodle soup, fried rice, stir fried noodles, orange chicken, Mongolian beef, bao and more.
Does the restaurant offer delivery?
According to the restaurant's Facebook page, customers can dine-in, pickup or get food delivered within a three mile radius.
What happened to Imperial Palace?
The restaurant closed in 2019 for health and family reasons.
Wasn't something supposed to go into the Imperial Palace location?
Yes, a culinary arts training program was going to go inside the building, but the program ended up at the former Mary's Market Cafe & Bakery location at Edgebrook instead.
How long was Imperial Palace open for?
The restaurant was open for 27 years.
Is there any connection between the owners of Imperial Palace and Golden Bowl?
It's unclear if the owners of the new restaurant have any ties to the Imperial Palace owners. Calls to the owner of Golden Bowl were not returned.
