A local brewery appears to be coming to Lafayette, with permits filed to renovate the space previously occupied by Roots Restaurant and Café 329, according to records from the Lafayette Consolidated Government permit office.

Records show that a commercial building permit is under review for Adopted Dog Brewing to renovate the 329 Dulles Drive building for a new concept. The space was last home to Roots Restaurant, which was a Cajun eatery opened by then-Pamplona executive chef Kris Allen.

The business created a Twitter account in April and has posted several photos of kegs and taps in the space. It has not posted any information on a potential opening date.

Permit pending to transform former hotel into apartments

SO Studios, an architecture firm based in Downtown Lafayette, filed for a commercial renovation permit to adapt the former Wyndham Garden Lafayette into apartments and retail suites, according to permit records.

The planned complex, called Buoy at Pinhook, would be six-stories of residential space with one floor of retail and amenities. The building is located at 1801 W. Pinhook Road.

The permit was filed for by Stephen Ortego, the principal architect for Downtown Lafayette firm SO Studios. SO Studios has been involved in several high-profile developments across Lafayette in recent years, including Vermilion Lofts in downtown and the ongoing Trappey's Cannery redevelopment.

New restaurant could be coming near Market Eatz

A new restaurant. Irene's Cafe, may be on its way to 800 E. Broussard Street, according to LCG permit records. A permit is under review for the commercial renovation of the property.

According to the records, the permit would allow for a 42-foot mobile commercial kitchen to be put on the property, which would be used for the actual kitchen facility. The existing building would be used for seating and bathrooms. The property has never housed a restaurant before, according to the records.

Business Buzz: Lafayette marketing agency turns 25

The agency is hoping to collect 2,000 pounds of supplies — a literal ton of supplies — to help the Stella Maris Center in Lafayette and St. Vincent de Paul in Baton Rouge.

“We live in the heart of this community, and every day, we see that homelessness is not an abstract concept, but a reality that many of our neighbors are experiencing," said BBR Creative founder and CEO Cherie Hebert. "We can’t end housing insecurity, but we can absolutely provide some comfort and help to those living with it. I know our community will respond generously."

The donations can include shampoo, conditioner, two-in-one shampoo and conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and hand sanitizer. Travel-sized deodorant and hand sanitizer is also accepted.

Pickups for the donations can be arranged, or they can be dropped off at the BBR Creative office at 413 South Pierce Street in Lafayette or at several partner locations, including:
