A new restaurant serving burgers and custard is opening soon in Port Washington

Toucan Food & Custard will be serving up custard, burgers and Middle Eastern cuisine at a new location in Port Washington.

The restaurant, at 620 W Grand Ave., will serve custard, Leroy Meats of Horicon quarter pound ground chuck burgers and shawarma, among other menu items.

Owners Suleiman and Jackie Bashabsheh are long-time Saukville residents and previously operated a Toucan location in West Bend. They decided to open in Port Washington to move the business closer to home, said Jackie.

The grand opening is on April 1 and they are "anticipating a really good turnout," Jackie said.

Toucan will be open Tuesday through Friday from 11a.m. to 9p.m. and on Sunday from 11a.m. to 10p.m. They're still solidifying the hours, so they could change.

Food items range in price from around $5 for a burger to $13 for other entrees. Suleiman is Jordanian and the couple wanted to share some of their family recipes at the restaurant.

"We've got some of their family recipes and the kind of food they were born and raised with, and they love it. We found it's something that you can't find here as much," Jackie said.

They will host a dine to donate on April 15 with 20% of all earnings donated to the Ozaukee Food Alliance. For more information, visit their website at toucancustardpw.com or call 262-235-4446.
