This Wichita restaurant moved to Towne East Square. As of last week, it’s closed.

The pizza restaurant that opened at Towne East Square in late 2021 has closed — at least for now.

On Friday, the owners of Mary’s Pizza said that they would “temporarily close” the restaurant, which operated in the former Noodles & Company space on the east-facing side of the mall, in between the JCPenney and Von Maur entrances. Its last day was Thursday.

Daniela Duran, who is the daughter of owners Sylvia Banuelos and her husband, Gabriel Duran, said that the family didn’t know when or where the restaurant might reopen.

“We have decided to take some time for our family and put our business on hold,” she said.

Mary’s Pizza started in Towne West Square food court in March 2020, but business wasn’t great there, the family said at the time. When they got the chance in 2021 to expand into a larger space at Towne East Square, they took it.

The restaurant served pizza by the slice, whole pies, calzones, stromboli, and pasta dishes. It also offered a buffet.

Daniela Duran promised to provide an update if anything changes.

“As small business owners, these last four years have been full of blessings and support,” she said. “We appreciate the good times we had and the amazing friendships we built.”
