Columbia’s newest spot for tacos and drinks is opening its doors.
Barrio Tacos + Tequila + Whiskey, which has locations in a number of states, was set to open a spot at 4420 Devine St. at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. This marks the second Barrio location in the Midlands, following the October opening of a shop at 105 W. Main St. in Lexington.
Barrio announced the Feb. 13 opening of the Devine Street location in recent posts on its social media channels. The first 100 customers on opening day were set for a chance to win free queso for a year.
The food menu at Barrio includes a wide selection of specialty tacos as well as build-your-own options, along with appetizers, salsas and much more. The menu also includes bowls, including the Al Pastor Bowl, which includes pulled pork, cauliflower rice, pineapple salsa, cilantro and onions, mango habanero and a special “dirty sauce.”
Its drink menu includes margaritas, bourbon and other libations. Barrio also has extensive brunch offerings, including the cowboy taco, which includes Coca-Cola marinated steak, Yukon hash browns, over-easy egg, crispy onions and chipotle honey barbecue sauce. The brunch menu also features the Taters Gonna Tate Bowl, which has tater tots, Adobo gravy, chorizo, chihuahua cheese, over-easy egg, green onions and sriracha.
“Barrio strives to continue to provide a high-energy, inclusive atmosphere in every neighborhood we serve,” Barrio says on its website, adding that its vibe comes from a “unique energy that’s created from the combination of our decor, music, and staff.”
The new Columbia Barrio is debuting in a high-traffic commercial area. About 28,000 cars per day pass down that stretch of Devine Street, according to S.C. Department of Transportation data.
