Restaurant week in Vermilion

Mar. 11—VERMILION — Main Street Vermilion and 14 local, independent restaurants are getting ready for Vermilion Restaurant Week, Sunday, March 21 through Saturday, March 27.

"This is the first time our restaurant community has hosted a Restaurant Week," said Marilou Suszko, executive director of Main Street Vermilion. "Without a doubt there is something for every budget, every taste and plenty of opportunities to explore the food scene in Vermilion at a savings — and be tempted to try somewhere new."

This past week, Nikki Hannaway of CraveCle, a popular social media influencer who has been called "one to watch" on The Cleveland Bucket List was spotted in a number of participating restaurants over the past weekend, sampling, shooting and creating videos that will help Main Street and restaurants promote their specials for the event.

From the cabbage rolls and mussels at VFW Post 7576, Poorman Road, to the pasta at Jim's Pizza Box, to Smokin' Joe's barbeque and Woodstock's salad and pizza, the selection and flavors certainly stood up to what might be found in larger metropolitan areas.

"I had a great weekend taste-testing and photographing the amazing food offerings that will be available during Vermilion Restaurant Week," said Hannaway. "It's now officially one year since the pandemic hit and more important than ever to support our local business and restaurants and Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to do that."

Hannaway said she couldn't wait to come back during Restaurant Week to visit some of the other participating restaurants. "I would definitely recommend supporting these restaurants through carryout or dine in, based on your comfort levels."
