These new restaurants, bars and more are about to open in Macon and Warner Robins

Looking for a new spot for brunch and not just for Sundays but every day of the week except on Christmas?

Or what about a sip of a rhubarb liqueur created in a new local micro-distillery?

If tequila and margaritas are more to your taste, a new full-service bar that specializes in them is among the new businesses opening this month in Macon and Warner Robins.

There’s also a new pub and restaurant and a state-of-the-art car wash in a familiar spot. Here’s a look:

Another Broken Egg Cafe — Nearly a year-and-a-half in the making, the first Middle Georgia location of this popular, upscale breakfast, brunch and lunch spot is opening Monday, April 10, in Warner Robins. The new restaurant will feature a summer brunch menu with options such as shrimp ‘n grits, crab cake benedict, bourbon street pancakes, lobster & brie omelet and more.

The restaurant at 810 Ga. 96, Suite 1700, in the Century Market Plaza Phase II has a full bar, offers patio seating and can accommodate about 150 people. Hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The telephone number is 478-359-6012. “We’re excited,” said Kelly Cox, one of the franchisees, along with her husband, Brandon Cox and their business partners, Ian Payne and Raymond Kimsey of Premier Contracting Solutions. “We’re just ready to open the doors.”

The Daisy Tequila and Margarita Bar — A new bar specializing in tequila and margaritas is expected to open Thursday, April 13, at 518 Cherry St. in downtown Macon.

Owners and close friends German Marin and Martin Velinov plan to focus on tequila and margaritas while also offering a full-service bar. They plan to serve appetizers also. The new spot is in the renovated space that was formerly Ricky’s Taco Shop. Marin, and Velinov, who met at Howard Middle School in Macon, once bartended together at Mexican restaurant in Macon. Marin and his Mom, Angelica Marin, own and operate La Bella Morelian, an authentic Mexican restaurant at 524 Mulberry St. in downtown Macon.

Longleaf Distillery — This new micro-distillery opening April 15 at 664 Second St. in downtown Macon is brought to you by business partners Will Robinson of Robinson Home interior design and David Thompson of Piedmont Construction Group.

The renovated 5,000-square foot space includes a bar area that serves as the tasting room, an educational room that can be rented for private events, a patio with seating, a small kitchen for appetizer-type foods only, and a large production area that houses their two large stills and spirits. The name is a nod to the Longleaf Pine that once flourished from southeastern Virginia to eastern Texas. Robinson and Thompson plan to partner with farmers and the Georgia Forestry Commission to restore and conserve the Longleaf Pine.

The Brickhouse Pub & Grub — This new pub and restaurant at 458 Second St. in downtown Macon could open any day with the only holdup the issuance of the liquor license, said owner Todd Miles. Customers can expect chef-driven food, live entertainment Friday and Saturday nights on a back deck with a staging area, some adult gaming downstairs, pool tables, karaoke and trivia.

The new spot is expected to serve wings, burgers, Philly cheese steaks, pizza and more. The venue includes four bars, including a daiquiri bar and another that offers 50 craft beers on tap. The Brickhouse Pub & Grub is in the renovated former Macon Beer Company location.

Big Peach at Fountain — The remodel of an iconic Macon business is expected to open April 29 under its new name and new owners. The former Fountain Car Wash has been a Macon mainstay for more than 50 years. The new local owners have invested nearly $2 million for the top-to-bottom remodel. The cost also includes a less extensive remodel of the former Fountain Car Wash’s sister location in Gray. Customers can expect all the bells and whistles at Big Peach at Fountain at 1820 Hardeman Ave. The car wash will offer express and full service options as well as oil changes and a shoe shine.

Bojangles — This Southern food chain known for made-from-scratch biscuit breakfast sandwiches, hand-breaded bone-in chicken and iced tea is close to opening at 4010 Watson Blvd. in Warner Robins. The newly-constructed restaurant is next to GooGoo Car Wash and makes the third Bojangles location in Warner Robins. Hours are expected to be 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Coming soon

Sophia’s on Second — While not opening this month, this new restaurant and cocktail bar at 428 Second St. in downtown may open in May if all goes according to plan. The new venture is brought to you by Ron Whidby and his business partners in the former spot of Lazy Susan’s Tapas Bar. The restaurant and cocktail bar is named after Whidby’s daughter. He also co-owns Cashman’s Pub at 370 Cherry St. in downtown Macon and The Library Tap House and Kitchen at 1530 Mercer University Drive near Mercer University.
