New restaurants and more coffee spots

Welcome back to The Buzz newsletter! I’m Larry Gallup, editor of The Post-Crescent, and I'm filling in on the newsletter today.

There's a lot going on in the Fox Cities to tell you about. Let's start with new restaurant news.

There's a new Appleton restaurant that's focused on vegetarian, South Indian food. It's called Madras Cafe and it's at 819 W. Wisconsin Ave., the former Whisk & Arrow location.

Waverly Beach in Menasha finished its renovations and had a grand reopening at the end of August.

For chicken fans, Slim Chickens — a chain that's new to the Fox Cities — is renovating the former Arby's at 601 W. Northland Ave. in Appleton, with an expected mid-December opening.

There's news for coffee fans, too. Caribou Coffee is building two of its drive-thru Caribou Cabins — one in Appleton opening this winter and one in Menasha opening this fall.

And a relatively new entrant in the coffee wars here, Scooter's Coffee, is turning the old Cellcom store at 528 W. Northland Ave. into a drive-thru location.

Finally, if Delta-8 is your thing, the Kush Kafe has opened in downtown Appleton, selling hemp-based products.
