Gainesville area restaurants offer up free food, specials to veterans and active-duty military
Restaurants across Alachua County will honor the service of veterans and military service members as they serve free and discounted food and beverages on Veterans Day.
Here is a list of many of them. All deals are for Thursday, Nov. 11, unless otherwise noted.
Veterans Day: Gainesville and Alachua County return to in-person Veterans Day celebrations
Applebee’s: Veterans and active-duty military receive a free meal when dining in. Military guests will receive a $5 bounce-back card to redeem for dine-in, to-go or delivery within three weeks.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse: Veterans and active-duty service members receive a free entree from a select menu. Dine-in only.
Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active-duty service members get a free order of 10 boneless wings and fries. Dine-in or take-out.
Chicken Salad Chick: Veterans and active-duty military will receive a free Chick Special and regular drink.
Chili’s: Veterans and active-duty service members get a free meal from a select menu. Dine-in only.
Conestogas Restaurant: Veterans and active-duty military can receive a free meal from those listed on the specials board. Dine-in only.
Darrell's Dog Gone Good Diner: Veterans and active-duty military with a valid ID can receive a free half-stack of pancakes with coffee, or a free egg breakfast with coffee.
Grub Burger Bar: Active-duty military and veterans get a complimentary entrée. Dine-in only.
IHOP: Veterans and active-duty military get free Red, White & Blueberry Pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dine-in only.
Maple Street Biscuit Company: Veterans and active-duty military can receive a free hot coffee and iced cinnamon biscuit.
Metro Diner: Active military and veterans will receive 50% off with a valid military ID.
Miller’s Ale House: Military members and veterans get 50% off their entrée of choice with proof of service.
Olive Garden: Veterans and active-duty military can receive a free meal from a select menu, plus unlimited soup or salad and garlic breadsticks. Dine-in only. Beverage and gratuity not included.
Red Lobster: Veterans, active-duty military and reservists get a free appetizer or dessert from a special menu. Dine-in only.
Smoothie King: Veterans and active-duty military members get a free 20 oz. smoothie.
Sonny’s BBQ: Veterans and active military can receive a free Pork Big Deal.
Starbucks: Veterans, military service members and military spouses get a free tall (12 oz.) hot brewed coffee.
Texas Roadhouse: Will hold a brief ceremony at 10: 45 a.m. before handing out vouchers to veterans and active-duty military from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free lunch or dinner. Dine-in or take-out. Vouchers good through May 30, 2022.
TGI Friday’s: Those with a valid military ID can receive a free lunch from a select menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dine-in only.
Wahoo Seafood Grill: Veterans and active-duty military with valid ID can receive a free meal from a select menu.
WaWa: Veterans, active military members and their families can receive a free hot coffee of any size.
