Restaurants open for Thanksgiving from Corning to Elmira

If you're not a fan of staying home for Thanksgiving dinner, or want a little more variety on the holiday menu, or just want something different for a change, there are some different options around town.

Here are some ideas if you don't mind missing the football games, if you don't want to cook a homemade meal and prefer to leave it up to a professional chef, or would rather leave the cleaning to someone else. There are even options for takeout.

These restaurants will be open in the Elmira and Corning areas, even on a day when most of their competitors will be closed.

Thanksgiving dinner at The Quincy Exchange includes a family-style grazing board for the table, seasonal soup, and a full turkey dinner with all the fixings, plus dessert. Introductory wine pairing is included in the price (beer and non-alcoholic options are also available).

Cost: $140 per person plus tax.

Hours: Dinners at noon and 3 p.m. Reservations available for two to 12 people.

A tradition returns Nov. 25 when Radisson Hotel Corning hosts its annual Thanksgiving dinner for the public. It's planning seasonal a la carte recipes for dine-in dining. Seating is available in the hotel’s restaurant, Grill 1-2-5.

Cost: $19 ham dinner, $21 turkey dinner. Other entrees are available.

Hours: Dine-in seatings are from 1, 1:30, 2, 3, 3:30 and 4 p.m. Reservation only.

Sweet-n-Saucy is offering a Thanksgiving takeout meal that includes turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes and a choice of apple or pumpkin pie.

Cost: $18 per order, delivery an additional $5.

Hours: All orders will be for Wednesday, Nov. 24 and packaged individually.

Anthony's Restaurant inside the Holiday Inn Riverview in Elmira is offering a Thanksgiving buffet complete with roast beef, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, penne alfredo, sweet potatoes and squash, stuffing and rice pilaf, mixed vegetables, rolls, salad, and an assortment of pies.

Cost: Adults $26.95, children under 2 complimentary, children 2-5 $6.95, children 6-10 $13.95. Reservations highly recommended.

Hill Top Inn Restaurant

Visit the Hill Top Inn Restaurant on either Thanksgiving Eve or Thanksgiving Day for a meal. The Thanksgiving Eve to-go package includes butternut squash soup, turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, vegetables, sweet potatoes, garden salad, rolls, apple crisp or pumpkin pie.

The Thanksgiving dinner buffet includes turkey, ham, sirloin, mac and cheese, chicken pot pie and other favorites. The dessert bar includes apple crisp, pumpkin pie, carrot cake, pumpkin trifle, cake, cheesecake and chocolate mousse.

Cost: Thanksgiving Day buffet $39.99 for an adult, youths 5-11 $19.99. Thanksgiving Eve meal $89.99 and feeds three.

Hours: 2 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday; seating noon to 4 p.m. and takeout noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Head down to Stoney's Casablanca on Thanksgiving Day for a menu that includes favorites like roast turkey with stuffing, grilled ham steak, roast prime rib au jus, seafood stuffed flounder, and more.
