Results of Chapman Labor Day Celebration shows and photos

Sep. 6—The Chapman Labor Day Celebration's Class of 1977's Car Show, Quilt Show, Kids Pedal Pull and Antique Tractor Show all showed yesterday, giving awards to the best submissions.

Around 120 cars were featured in the Class of 1977's Car Show. Among other awards, the top 20 cars were, in no particular order, Mike Gordine's 1955 Chevy 210, Marty White's 1960 Chevy Corvette, Greg Becker's 1960 Chevy Impala, Wayne Priddy's 1957 Ford Ranchero, Duff Dolton's 1961 Chevy Impala, Randy Klug's 1967 Chevy Camaro, Bill Unruh's 1964 Ford F100, Danny Eye's 1969 Chevy Tribute Chavelle, Kendan Blacketer's 1965 Ford F100, Aaron Silfe's 1967 Chevy Camaro, Chris and Betty Rush's 1968 Pontiac GTO, Larry and Steph Hettenbach's 1970 Ford Boss 302 Mustang, Curtis Rein's 1968 Chevy Camaro, Keenan Cole's 1958 Chevy Bel Air, Keith Boller's 1969 Chevy Camaro, Jim and Jeanette Richardson's 1934 Ford three windowed Coupe, Norris Peterson Jr.'s 1933 Plymouth five windowed Coupe, Dale and Sheila Holt's 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS, Paul and Deb Woodyard's 1969 Chevy Chevelle SS 396 and Stan Schmidt's 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS 396.

The Chapman Labor Day Celebration Quilt Show displayed 35 quilts submitted to them. Steve Dunkel of Junction City won first place with his batik quilt with an Amazon Star pattern. Trudy Backer won second place with her Sizzle quilt. Donna Martinson of Junction City took third place with her Bali Wedding Star quilt. Viewers submitted the votes.

Around 100 children competed in the Kids Pedal Pull. In the four year olds, Ashten Woodcox won with a 27 ft. and 11 in. pull. Peyton Gfeller won in the five year old's competition after breaking a full 30 ft. pull two-way tie with a 25 ft. 9 in. re-pull. Gabby Dean won the six year old's competition with a 29 ft. 9 in. pull. Sully Mills won the seven year old's competition with a full pull. In the eight year olds, Broolyn Clark won after breaking a full pull three-way tie with another full pull in a tie breaker. Jace Dumler won the nine year old's competition with a 30 ft. re-pull after a two-way full pull tie. In the 10 year olds, Eli Hanson won with a 28 ft. 9 in. pull. In the 11 year olds, Lowry Fisher won with a 29 ft. 2 in. pull. Lastly, Robert Collins won the 12 year old's competition with a full pull.

In the Antique Tractor Show, nine tractors were submitted to the show. Shawn McMillan won the viewers choice vote with his 1954 Fergson T030. Dale and Sonya Anders' 1944 John Deere A won second.
