Results, notes, observations from the 2022 Iowa Greco-Roman state championships
Iowa USA Wrestling wrapped a busy two days of wrestling with the Greco-Roman state championships on Sunday at Southeast Polk High School.
This two-day wrestling competition, where wrestlers participated in the Olympic disciplines, featured many of the best Iowa high-schoolers. These tournaments help decide other high-level competitions, like the rosters for the 16U and Junior national duals teams, as well as who qualifies for the 16U and Junior national championships.
The greco state tournament was contested Sunday after the freestyle portion was held on Saturday. Additionally, a women's freestyle competition was also contested on Sunday, featuring 52 high school girl wrestlers from all over Iowa.
Below is a weight-by-weight rundown of the Junior and 16U greco and women's freestyle results, as well as notes and observations from the action.
