Work resumes on burned Notre-Dame
Work resumed on Paris' iconic Notre-Dame cathedral on Monday (April 27), as construction workers continue the mammoth task of rebuilding after a month and a half hiatus.
Flames engulfed the 850-year-old building just over a year ago destroying the spire and roof.
Patrick Chauvet is the rector of Notre Dame, he says despite the break, the reconstruction project is still on track to meet President Emmanuel Macron's five-year deadline.
Before the lockdown imposed break, there had already been a number of setbacks.
Including delays due to toxic lead released by the fire and winter storms.
Chauvet says the first task will be to remove the tangle of metal scaffolding that melted in the fire and became snared in the structure.
