Retail roundup: Turn 7 comes to Moorestown Mall, online vendors head for Cherry Hill
MOORESTOWN – The former owner of Forman Mills has opened a discount store in an anchor location at Moorestown Mall.
Rick Forman on Thursday debuted the third and largest outlet for his new concept, Turn 7, at the former site of a Lord + Taylor department store.
The opening came as the shopping center’s owner, Philadelphia-based PREIT, is preparing for the arrival of two online merchants at its nearby Cherry Hill Mall.
Those stores — Warby Parker and Amazon 4-Star — are expected to open in the first half of 2022, PREIT said.
Warby Parker, which will be new to South Jersey, markets eyeglasses, sunglasses and contacts.

Amazon 4-star will offer a "highly curated" assortment of products from Amazon.com, according to PREIT.
"They constantly change their merchandise to whatever is popular on the website," noted Heather Crowell, an executive vice president for the mall operator.
Also new to South Jersey market is Duluth Trading Co., a Wisconsin-based marketer of casual wear, workwear and accessories. The chain recently opened its 66th store at a mixed-use development that once held Garden State Park racetrack in Cherry Hill.
The store on Garden State Boulevard is Duluth's second in the Philadelphia area.
Turn 7, which occupies 121,000 square feet at the Moorestown shopping center, announced its arrival with a banner draped on a truck trailer in a crowded parking lot,
Turn 7 sells merchandise, priced from $1 to $100, that has been returned to major retailers, according to a statement from the discounter.
“Much of the merchandise can be found unopened in brand new packaging,” it said.
The store's inventory includes electronics, housewares, apparel and furnishings, the statement added.
“Merchandise turns over every seven days,” it said, adding items that do not sell are donated to charities.
Forman launched Turn 7 earlier this year, opening a store at the Philadelphia Mills shopping center.
He previously operated Forman Mills, a discount chain, for 31 years before selling it in 2016.
Turn 7’s arrival “further validates Moorestown’s merchandising strategy of adding unique-to-market retailers this holiday season,” said Crowell.
She noted Cherry Hill Mall previously has added stores for online marketers like Peloton, the exercise equipment firm, and mattress marketer Purple.
The expansion of vendors from the digital world to shopping centers "does speak to the ultimate transition of the retail space."
