Retired Clearcreek Twp. Officer throws 1st pitch at Opening Day festivities in Springboro
Retired Clearcreek Township Police Officer Eric Ney threw out the first pitch in Springboro Saturday morning as part of the Opening Day festivities for the Springboro Clearcreek Baseball Association.
It took place at Clearcreek Park.
Clearcreek Township Police Chief John Terrill made some brief remarks and recognized Ney and his partner the night he was shot, Sergeant Nicole Cordero, before Ney went to the found and threw the first pitch.
Ney was shot while responding to a domestic violence call in July of 2022.
He spent three months recovering in the hospital.
After over a decade of service, he medically retired in April.
Ney and his wife, Lisa, were honored Friday at the 16th Annual Montgomery County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.
