Retired Corning music teacher charged with providing indecent material to child

A retired Corning City School District music teacher has been charged with providing indecent material to a minor.

Painted Post-based New York State Police said Thomas S. Killian, 58, of Corning was arrested June 10 on felony charges of second-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor and tampering with physical evidence, and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Officials said the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation initiated an inquiry on March 22, 2023 into a report of a 13-year-old receiving indecent material from Killian.

Troopers said Killian was providing private music lessons to the child.

Killian was released on an appearance ticket. He's scheduled to appear in Corning City Court on June 20.

According to the Corning City School District Board of Education records, Killian is a former music teacher at Erwin Valley Elementary School who retiring after 26 years of service on June 30, 2022.
