Watch: Retired music teacher, 67, entertains packed train with impromptu saxophone gig

This is the moment a retired music teacher entertained a late night train with an impromptu saxophone gig.

Brendan Duffy, 67, from Leeds, was asked by commuters to blast out a tune or two after they spotted his saxophone case.

Urged on by his fellow passengers, which included a hen do, Duffy played renditions of the song Tequila and The Pink Panther Theme, much to the delight of those on board.

He had boarded the last train from Leeds to Harrogate in Yorkshire on Friday evening when he was told by passengers: "You must play a tune."

Duffy, who was returning from a gig he had played in Leeds, duly obliged, sparking scenes of joy in the train carriage.

He later told the BBC: "I jumped on the train, it was quite lively. I was carrying my saxophone case. I put it on the top shelf so everyone knew it was a musical instrument."

Asked why he gave in to demands to play to the crowd, he said: "It's all about making people happy.

"Myself, as a musician, you could just feel the vibes on the train. Everyone was going crazy.

Duffy said he was conscious that he didn't want to miss his stop.

"I could have played all the way to Harrogate or York but I don't live there," he said.

However, he was enjoying himself so much he did miss several stops and ended up four miles away from home.

Another passenger on the train recognised him as a former teacher and gave him a lift home, ITV News reported.

He said: "I like seeing people happy and I think I made them even more happy on the way home."

Clips of Duffy entertaining the train have clocked up more than 100,000 views on TikTok.
