The Pardee Hospital Foundation has announced the return to its in-person, annual Women Helping Women luncheon for the first time since 2019 on Friday, Oct. 28. The event will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Women Helping Women, honor the 2022 Women of Hope recipients and feature retired University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill basketball coach Roy Williams as keynote speaker.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and will be held in the Technology Building on the campus of Blue Ridge Community College. Tickets are $125 and are available on the Foundation’s website or by calling 828-233-2700. Each ticket sale goes to offset the costs of important health screenings for uninsured or under-insured women in the community.

For nearly two decades, Williams’ Fast Break Against Cancer has supported UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. To date, this event has raised more than $3 million for research and patient care in Chapel Hill, according to a news release.

“We’re thrilled that now, as a resident of our community, Coach Williams is supporting the Pardee Hospital Foundation’s efforts to provide the best cancer care to the residents of Western North Carolina,” said Amy Treece, executive director for the Pardee Hospital Foundation. “Coach Williams is an inspiring speaker with a personal experience to share in supporting loved ones with breast cancer. We’re so appreciative of his willingness to join us for our 25th anniversary luncheon.”

In addition to the annual luncheon event on Oct. 28, founders of Women Helping Women, supported by the Foundation, have created a book commemorating the 25th anniversary. The book will be sold for $25 and features Women of Hope recipients throughout the years, as well as a brief history of the origin of the program. One-hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Women Helping Women. The book is available for pre-order on the Foundation’s website and will be available after Nov. 1.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pardee Hospital Foundation is also hosting a fundraising event, “Hops for Hope,” on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. at Dry Falls Brewing in Hendersonville. The event will recognize Women of Hope recipients over the last two years and honor survivors. Dry Falls Brewing offered to donate a portion of its proceeds from the evening to the Pardee Hospital Foundation.

In an effort to reach more women who are uninsured and lack access to healthcare, the Foundation will use funds from Women Helping Women and other sources to provide free mammograms on Oct. 20. For more details or to volunteer, call 828-233-2700.

Pardee Hospital Foundation was approved as a non-profit Foundation in January 1996. Since its inception, the Foundation has generated over $30 million in pledges and cash gifts for Pardee services.
