Return of Newport Winter Festival among Newport area weekend event highlights

It may not have felt much like winter this season, but that doesn't mean we can't celebrate the coldest months and with school vacation kicking off, the ability to get out and let the kids loose doesn't hurt.

This weekend welcomes back the return of the Newport Winter Festival, a weeklong extravaganza of events for the whole family to enjoy. But that's not all that's happening.

You can find plenty of live music and art to return a little adult sanity if the kids are getting rambunctious.

So check out these events, including one that could be worth traveling a little for.

Newport Winter Festival is back

After a two-year hiatus, the Newport Winter Festival kicks off on Friday with a full schedule of events. Timed to coincide with winter break in local schools, events will continue through next weekend.
