Reunited country duo Brooks and Dunn set to return to Xcel Energy Center

Reunited country duo Brooks and Dunn will return to the road this summer with a June 3 concert booked at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center.

Tickets, at prices to be announced, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster.

After working separately in the late ’80s, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn joined forces in 1991 for the album “Brand New Man,” which spawned four No. 1 country singles, including “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” They went on to dominate radio in the ’90s and early ’00s, scoring more than 50 hits including 20 that hit No. 1, making them the most successful duo in contemporary country music.

In 2010, the pair hit the road for what they said was their final tour together. That May, they drew more than 15,000 fans to the X. Four months later, Brooks and Dunn wrapped the tour at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, with proceeds benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame.

But after their solo careers failed to take off, Brooks and Dunn got back together in 2015 to play a Las Vegas residency with Reba McEntire. In the years since, they have continued to play Vegas as well as a handful of other shows. In 2019, they released “Reboot,” an album featuring new recordings of their biggest hits with guest vocals from current country stars. The new take on “Brand New Man” with Luke Combs went gold.

Opener Scotty McCreery began his career after winning the 10th season of “American Idol” in 2011. While his early singles sold well, he didn’t really take off on country radio until 2017’s “Five More Minutes” went No. 1, the first of five consecutive chart toppers for the 29-year-old North Carolina native.
