USA Swimming have filed an appeal following the disqualification of Lilly King from the women's 200 meters breaststroke heats on Thursday at the world championships in Gwangju. King, the Olympic and world 100 champion, came home first in her heat but after looking up at the scoreboard she was stunned to see she had been disqualified.

Trentin wins Tour de France 17th stage as tempers flare

European champion Matteo Trentin won the 17th stage of the Tour de France, a hilly 200-km ride from the Pont du Gard as tempers flared in the peloton on Wednesday. Team Ineos's Luke Rowe and Lotto Jumbo-Visma's Tony Martin were both kicked out of the race following an altercation, just under 14 kilometres from the finish.
