Australian GP to stay in Melbourne until 2025
Melbourne's Albert Park circuit will continue to host the Australian Grand Prix until at least the end of 2025, Formula One said on Thursday. It said a two-year contract extension with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation was signed in London.

Arsenal fan websites in the United States are playing a pivotal role in a protest campaign against the club's owners as a petition demanding change surpassed 100,000 signatures on Thursday, three days after launching. Sixteen supporters' groups, three from the U.S., came together to launch the "#WeCareDoYou" campaign in response to "poor leadership" from owner Stan Kroenke and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), declaring the Premier League club to be in need of "meaningful action" to "reinvigorate" it.
NFL notebook: Amputated Norton out of hospital after losing arm
Two weeks after a car accident led to him losing his left arm, Dolphins defensive tackle Kendrick Norton walked out of a Miami hospital Thursday afternoon after being discharged, offering his gratitude after his life-changing amputation. The 22-year-old Norton, who underwent six surgeries since his July 4 wreck, spoke on camera briefly from the parking lot at Jackson Memorial Hospital and thanked his numerous supporters through the ordeal.
MLB notebook: Marlins activate INF Prado from IL
The Miami Marlins activated veteran infielder Martin Prado from the 10-day injured list Thursday and replaced him on the IL with utility man JT Riddle. Prado, 35, had been out of action since the middle of June due to a right hamstring strain. He is batting .237 with one home run and 12 RBIs in 52 games after grounding out as a pinch hitter Thursday against the San Diego Padres.

Report: Raptors G Lowry undergoes thumb procedure
Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry underwent a procedure to repair a tendon in his left thumb, but he still plans on being available for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, ESPN reported. Lowry is not expected to miss USA Basketball's mini-camp to be held Aug. 5-9 at Las Vegas. He last played for Team USA at the 2016 Olympics and is one of 20 players invited to the mini-camp for the current team.
Daly rides cart to 71 at Barbasol, Poston leads
John Daly rode his cart to a respectable one-under-par 71 on a day of sizzling scoring in the opening round at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky on Thursday. After being denied use of a cart for the British Open, Daly decided to take a pass on playing in the major championship this week, instead teeing up in Nicholasville with the tour's bottom-feeders.
Holmes sets pace as McIlroy cards nightmare 79 at Open
Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods endured miserable first rounds at the British Open on Thursday with American J.B. Holmes ending in the lead after shooting a five under-par 66 at Royal Portrush. McIlory disappointed the home support with the home favourite carding an eight-over-par 79 while a stiff-looking Woods was nothing like the player who won the Masters in April as he laboured to seven-over.
