Two Russian biathletes get four-year bans for doping: IBU

Two Russian biathletes have been suspended for four years for doping violations detected in data from Russia's former anti-doping agency laboratory, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) said on Tuesday. Alexander Pechenkin and Alexander Chernyshov were among the four Russian biathletes who were charged with doping violations by the IBU and provisionally suspended last November.

Russian race walker given four-year ban for doping

Russian race walker Maria Ponomareva has been handed a four-year suspension for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said in a statement on Tuesday. The AIU, which oversees integrity issues in athletics, including doping, posted documents from the Court Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that said the ban was based on the fact Ponomareva had abnormalities in her biological passport.

Breakdancing takes next step toward Paris 2024 Games

Breakdancing and three other sports took another step toward appearing at the Paris 2024 Olympics after the International Olympic Committee on Tuesday voted in favor of their inclusion. The Paris 2024 organizing committee in February proposed surfing, skateboarding and sport climbing as well as breakdancing for inclusion in the Games and the IOC's executive board gave the initial green light in March.

Former technical head Lowe leaves Williams F1 team

Former technical director Paddy Lowe is leaving Williams with immediate effect and has stepped down from the board of directors, the Formula One team said on Tuesday. Lowe had been on an extended "leave of absence" since March 5, before the start of the season.

Djokovic has sympathy for Nadal over Wimbledon seedings gripe

Spaniard Rafael Nadal received support from Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic on Tuesday after criticising the unique seedings formula used by the grasscourt Grand Slam which gets underway at the All England Club on Monday. Nadal looks set to fall victim to the formula which tweaks the seedings based on previous form on grass, with the 33-year-old expected to be seeded third behind top-ranked Djokovic and Roger Federer despite being world number two.
