Revisit in photos: Tom Brady’s career against the Dallas Cowboys
Tom Brady announced his retirement from professional football on Wednesday morning via Twitter.
The future Hall of Famer won seven Super Bowls over 23 seasons in the NFL. Among his 383 career games (335 regular season, 48 postseason), Brady played the Dallas Cowboys eight times.
He posted a 7-1 record, the lone loss coming on Jan. 16, 31-14, when the Bucs lost to the Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card game.
A look back at his career against the Cowboys:
Nov. 16, 2003: Patriots 12, Cowboys 0
Brady completed 15 of 34 passes for just 44.1% of his passes for a 212 yards. He did not have a touchdown pass or an interception. He was sacked twice. His quarterback rating of 64.8 was the lowest of his career against the Cowboys.
Oct. 14, 2007: Patriots 48, Cowboys 27
Brady had a huge game, passing for 388 yards (on 31 of 46 passes) and five touchdowns. He was not intercepted and was sacked three times. He had a quarterback rating of 129.6.
Oct. 16, 2011: Patriots 30, Cowboys 16
Completing 27 of 41 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns, Brady led the Patriots to another lopsided win over the Cowboys. He did throw two interceptions and was sacked three times. His quarterback rating of 82.3 was among the lowest of his career against Dallas.
Oct. 11, 2015: Patriots 30, Cowboys 6
Another lopsided win for New England as Brady dazzles by completing 20 of 27 passes (74.1%) and 275 yards and two touchdowns. His 130.9 quarterback rating was the highest of his career against the Cowboys.
Nov. 24, 2019: Patriots 13, Cowboys 9
In one of the lowest-scoring games in the Cowboys-Patriots rivalry, Brady wins his final game against the Cowboys as a Patriot. He completes just 17 of 37 passes (45.9%) for 190 yards and one touchdown.
Sept. 9, 2021: Bucs 31 Cowboys 29
A new uniform and a new team, but the victories keep happening for Brady against the Cowboys. Brady passes for 379 yards as he completes 32 of 50 passes and four touchdowns in the season-opening win. It’s the only game against the Cowboys where Brady comes away without being sacked. He does throw two interceptions.
Sept. 11, 2022: Bucs 19, Cowboys 3
In his final regular-season opener, Brady leads the Bucs to another win over the Cowboys. He completes 18 of 27 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown and an interception.
Jan. 16, 2023: Cowboys 31, Bucs 14
In his final NFL game, Brady finally loses to the Cowboys. Maybe that was the sign that it was time to retire. He completes 35 of 66 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns. He has one interception. The Cowboys led the entire way, jumping out to an 18-0 alftime lead and coasting in the second half.
