Reward offered in Bloomfield double homicide

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the murder of two brothers in Bloomfield in February.

Russell Smith, 44, whose last known addresses are 305 Dunfey Lane, Windsor, and 88 Leyfred Terrace, Springfield, Mass., is the suspect in the double homicide that occurred outside Elizabeth’s Bar and Restaurant on Feb. 22.

Smith is accused of shooting Aaron Walker of Windsor and Franklin Spencer of East Hartford during a dispute in the restaurant parking lot. Smith, who has been at large since the shooting, has a court set bond of $5 million dollars.

According to a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service, the agency’s Violent Fugitive Task Force is assisting on locating Smith, who is described as Black, 5-feet 10-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with a medium complexion, and bald or short black hair. Authorities believe he could be staying with a girlfriend, friends or family.

He has been known to visit and frequent the the states of Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, New York, and New England. Smith’s last known location was in McDonough, Ga., on July 31, the spokesman said.

Smith is believed to be armed and in possession of two semi-automatic handguns and should not be approached.
