Reynoldsburg City Schools is down to two finalists in its search to replace departing superintendent Melvin Brown, according to a district news release.

The two finalists are Corey Grubbs, area superintendent at Columbus City Schools, and Garilee Ogden, superintendent at Groveport Madison Local Schools.

"The board of education was very pleased with the high level of qualifications of our semifinalists and found it very difficult to narrow our focus to two final candidates to interview," board President Debbie Dunlap said. "As we move ahead in this process, we are extremely grateful to our community, staff, parents and students, who were able to provide input about the qualities needed in the next superintendent of Reynoldsburg City Schools. Together we will find the optimal fit for our students, staff and Raider community."

The board of education plans to hold interviews with the Grubbs and Ogden during an executive session meeting May 23. The district expects to make a selection by May 27 with the new superintendent expected to start  Aug. 1.

The district earlier identified six candidates as semifinalists, although one chose to withdraw from the process before being interviewed, the release said.
