Reynoldsburg high School student arrested after claiming to bring gun a school

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (WCMH) — A student was arrested at a Reynoldsburg high school on Thursday afternoon after claiming to have a gun.

Reynoldsburg High School-Summit Campus, at 8579 Summit Road, was on lockdown for a little over an hour after the school was alerted to a student claiming to have a weapon, a Reynoldsburg City Schools spokesperson said. A school resource officer arrested the student, who had a knife.

Reynoldsburg Police said in a release that the student, an 18-year-old male, was holding up a sign indicating he had a gun. The student has been charged with inducing panic, a second-degree felony, and was taken to Licking County Jail.

After police conducted a sweep of the building, the school was under “limited mobility” the rest of the afternoon. Reynoldsburg Police are investigating the incident.
